چکیده

In a multicenter cooperative controlled study, individual test, accuracy, and precision control values were determined for 75-mug ticarcillin disks with Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853.

Comparison and evaluation of ticarcillin and carbenicillin using disk diffusion methods.

Ticarcillin has proved to be two- to fourfold more active than carbenicillin against most strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Although susceptibility of the Enterobacteriaceae to ticarcillin could be predicted from results obtained with carbenicillin disks, neither the 50-mug nor the 100-mug carbenicillin disk proved suitable for testing susceptibility of P. aeruginosa to ticarcillin. Forty-thre...

Quality control guidelines for disk diffusion and broth microdilution antimicrobial susceptibility tests with seven drugs for veterinary applications.

This multicenter study proposes antimicrobial susceptibility (MIC and disk diffusion methods) quality control (QC) parameters for seven compounds utilized in veterinary health. Alexomycin, apramycin, tiamulin, tilmicosin, and tylosin were tested by broth microdilution against various National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS)-recommended QC organisms (Staphylococcus aureus ATC...

The main purpose of this study was the pattern of antibiotic resistance and the frequency of plasmid-dependent quinolone resistance (qnr) genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates isolated from surgical site

Introduction: In recent years, antibiotic resistance has been on the rise, leading to limited ways to control nosocomial infections (especially surgical site infections) and the right treatment options. The main purpose of this study was the pattern of antibiotic resistance and the frequency of plasmid-dependent quinolone resistance (qnr) genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Kl...

Discrepancies between disk diffusion and broth susceptibility studies of the activity of ticarcillin plus clavulanic acid against ticarcillin-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Ticarcillin and clavulanic acid in combination were tested against 40 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates resistant to ticarcillin by disk diffusion. A total of 21 isolates (53%) were susceptible to ticarcillin-clavulanate by disk diffusion, under currently recommended criteria for ticarcillin susceptibility. Macro-broth dilution tests (ticarcillin plus clavulanic acid, 2 micrograms/ml) confirmed s...

Facilitating quality control of the antimicrobial susceptibility test.

Standard reference strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were suspended in sterile deionized water and tested daily via disk agar diffusion for their antimicrobial susceptibilities. Inocula of E. coli and P. aeruginosa yielded acceptable results for up to 32 days; however, results on S. aureus were unacceptable due to loss of viability of the organism in...
